Ladybrand (South Africa) :

S 29º 12.220’ E 027º 26.728’ (elevation: 1610m)
In the morning the view of the amphitheatre lit up by the sun was spectacular, but only lasted a few hours. As the mountains became covered in clouds we got moving – in a direction with less probability of rain. It stayed dry but cool as we were between 1500 and 2000 metres above sea level. Though still scenic, the landscape flattened out as we moved away from the mountains. We didn’t get to know much about Ladybrand’s other attractions, but the caravan park (of which there is on in every South African town) at the edge of town is superb. It is more like a huge quiet garden complete with pool and chances are good that you have the place to yourself.
