Maputo (Mozambique) : Africa's latin capital

Our next leg was quite long with two major detours, but the countryside was varied and picturesque. Maputo's streets reflect Mozambique's recent history with names such as Karl Marx, Amical Cabral, Salvador Allende, Lenin, Patrice Lubumba and Ho Chi Min. It could be a little paradise city: green, with a temperate climate, easy going (despite all the security!) and latin-afro in flavour, there are white sand beaches nearby and the LM prawns still abound. Although the city is a bit ramshackle in places and refuse is a problem, it is interesting to walk the busy streets.
