Blantyre (Malawi) : all good things come to an end
S15°47.026' E035°00.900' (altitude: 987m)
Our first real city since being in the country, Blantyre has a Malawian spirit. Some work on the bike, a parcel to send home (?), listening to 70s and 80s pop music and meeting a very mixed bunch of people at Doodles Lodge (where we were staying),meeting up again with Thomas who has driven an East German truck (with record braking fuel consumption of up to 50 litres per 100 kilometres of diesel in sand!) through Africa for the past twenty months, seeing the optician (Thomas, who now works here) and , certainly not least, a concert at a small venue 20 kilometres outside Blantyre by Malawi’s best reggae band, “The Black Missionaries”. It was a nice close to our stay in Malawi. Thank you and well done Malawi!!
