Petauke - Chipata (Zambia) : on the Great Eastern Road
S°14 17.746' E031°19.826' (altitude: 972m) - S13°34.941' E032°36.592' (altitude: 1055m)
The Great Eastern Road is quite lonely with little traffic and only the odd small setlement on the 600 kilometres from Lusaka to Chipta. The bush is thick here and there seems to be nothing out there. Nevertheless, as we have in other parts of Africa, you always see people on foot and travelling by bicycle. In order to spare the precious tyre tread we don’t exceed 100 km/hr and thus clock up a good few hours on the road although the surface is flawless. Our reward at the end of the day is to set up our tent on a lawned campsite and watch another great sunset.
