Lusaka (Zambia) : Swiss terror in an otherwise safe city

Driving onto Lusaka was quite exiting as it is a lively city and actually has an identifiable central business district – something we have not seen for months on our trip. We managed to get our Mozambique visa in the pipeline before checking into a backpacker and all seemed to be going well. That night however, we had our most disturbing experience of nine months of travel in Africa after the normal noise of the bar dies down after closing time. One of the guests, who seem to be off his rocker (not drunk), managed to wake up almost the entire place with his noisy, obnoxious and even threatening behaviour. It could easily have been something out of a horror movie, but the worst of all was that the man was white, insulted the night watchman who was only trying to do his duty and came from a country which highly despises public disturbance: Switzerland. With the colours and countries swapped, the concerned person would be in all kinds of trouble.
