Oshakati (Namibia) : in another world

The high-sequirity, razor-edged fencing announced that this would be a border with a difference; and it reminded me of the US/Mexican border at Tijuana. I can't recall seeing many fences when crossing from one country to another to the north, and here it almost felt as though we were leaving Africa. Lots of white people, ATMs big supermarkets, asealed road, petrol stations... and all this within a stone's throuw from a border? We had no problems adapting to the silk smooth road surface ans with no street stalls aroung we ended up having dinner at a Kentucky Fried Chicken (a fast food chain) for dinner! We were in a different world.
