Tete (Mozambique) : a very warm welcome

It was a late start for a border-crossing day but there were only about 100 kilometers to cover to get to Mozambique and we didn’t expect any complications. The sun went down as an orange ball behind baobab trees and surprisingly it got warmer and warmer as we approached Tete. Tete is known as Mozambique’s hottest town and we weren’t pardoned. At 40 degrees C we got a very warm welcome and opted for an air-con room with view of the suspension bridge across the Zambezi River. The hotel had a (uniformed!) doorman, an elevator and a restaurant on the top (fifth) floor. It had been months since we had been somewhere with those kind of city-structures. There are even ATMs that give lots of money!
