Mitzic (Gabon) : the ride of a lifetime

N 00°46.724’ E 011°33.021’
We got an early start (for us 9h00) and enjoyed the many turns on the good tar road through the jungle landscape. In Gabon the ride was even more spectacular with endless curves and small rises on the practically new road with green giants surrounding us. For a biker the 770 km from Ebolowa to Libreville is like a dream come true. Of concern (in more ways than one) are the over-sized trucks bearing huge age-old logs destined for the (few) wealthy. Sadly, the benefits of removing tropical hardwoods go to equally few in Gabon, and for even fewer the earnings are in accord with the value of these disappearing giants; the disadvantages will affect us all.
