Ziguinchor (SEN) : tranquil southern Senegal

En route here we had another pleasant surprise, this time at an almost missed customs check point at some arbitrary point. Already 100 m past the check point (a 4x4 and two men under a tree 20m from the road side) we saw a uniformed man walk up to the road, his arm raised in question and a stern look on his face. I returned with the bike, we did some small-talking and to their surprise took advantage to make it a rest-stop. Soon we shared our story with the (bored) officials who then almost forgot to ask for our papers and were offered some of their laît callé (a popular milk drink) instead while inspecting the bike. As a team we (Annabella, I and not least 'la nave') left to hearty greetings of 'bonne route' and 'bonne chance'.
Our stop in Zinguinchor was to connect to cyberspace and to make another parcel with no longer needed clothes and equipment. Capital of the Casamanse with about 250 000 inhabitants this once strife-torn town is now quiet as ever - day and night!
