Our plans often change and today we decided to enter Ghana and gave the national park in southern Burkina Faso a miss. And why? A combination of the heat, the cold beer, the good lunch, the urge to make some degrees of latitude southward, the mental image of a tropical beach and information from the traveller network that the park’s accommodation now under new management was expensive and overpriced. Due to queues on one side and meticulous customs officials on the other side of the border Annabella had a good crowd to deal with by the time I was done with the formalities and we thus only arrived after dark in Tamale. After the two-hour search for a place to stay as everything was full (!) in the mid-sized town we had no energy left. Instead of another search for dinner we had an extra beer with the two watchmen and were out as soon as we hit the sheets.
